Description
English: Goods from a man's grave in the Lombard grave field of Gallo
  • Cividale del Friuli, Province Udine, Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

Burials took place in this necropolis located in the western part of Cividale starting in the second half of the 6th century, at the beginning of Lombard rule in Italy, and continuing through the first half of the 7th century. To date, the necropolis has been excavated only in part.

Grave 1950/2
A west-east oriented man's grave endowed with weapons. The deceased belonged to the first generation of Lombards who migrated to Italy.

1. Double-edged longsword (spatha) of iron.
2. Iron lance tip.
3. Iron shield boss.
4. Iron shield grip.

Bestattet wurde in dieser Nekropole im westlichen Stadtgebiet von Cividale seit der zweiten Hälfte des 6. Jahrhunderts, dem Beginn der langobardischen Herrschaft in Italien, und dann während der ersten Hälfte des 7. Jahrhunderts. Bisher wurde die Nekropole nur in Teilen ausgegraben.

Grab 1950/2
West-ost orientiertes Männergrab mit Waffenbeigaben. Der Verstorbene gehörte zur Einwanderungsgeneration in Italien.

1. Zweischneidiges Langschwert (Spatha) aus Eisen.
2. Eiserne Lanzenspitze.
3. Eiserner Schildbuckel.
4. Eiserne Schildfessel.
