Description |
English: Tree trunks used for pilings were shipped along the Pacific Coast in wooden cradles called log booms. Built of the heavy timbers shown here and towed by steamers or powerful tugboats, cradles were filled with logs and chained and turnbuckled into a rigid mass. (Tall Ships on Puget Sound, Robert A. Weinstein, c1978)
