[edit]DescriptionLodge, Thingwall House - geograph.org.uk - 37397.jpg |
English: Lodge, Thingwall House. Alas Thingwall House is no more, only the lodge remains.
Quoted from the LIverpool Echo Thursday, November 06, 2003 Ken Dodd's dream of turning a 19th century manor house into a comedy museum for Liverpool lay in ruins today. Last night a blaze broke out in the disused building, putting it beyond restoration. Just before 11am this morning a bulldozer smashed through the wall in Thomas Lane into the grounds of Thingwall House. Campaigners watched on in disbelief as the bulldozer started to destroy the 19th century manor house. One said: "This is a devastating day for all of us.There was so much history in that house that has just been destroyed." Doddy, who watched the demolition from his window said: "I am sad and disgusted at what I have witnessed today, I warned that this would happen but nobody would listen, it is a disgrace." |
