Summary
[edit]DescriptionLoch Gairloch towards Eilean Horrisdale - geograph.org.uk - 803856.jpg |
English: Loch Gairloch towards Eilean Horrisdale This square is 99% sea loch with a tiny amount of Eilean Horrisdale just venturing into the square. Eilean Horrisdale occupies most of the adjacent square. Economically the loch is important to Gairloch, as there are many creels in the loch for catching langoustines and crabs, and lobsters nearer the shore. A few fishing boats still work out from Gairloch. Loch Shieldaig south off Loch Gairloch is the former home of the herring fleet. Several different boat trips operate either out of Charlestown or Badachro ranging from working a creel boat, to a glass bottomed boat to whale and porpoise watching trips or high speed trips out to The Minch. |
