Deutsch: Farbige Hummer-Bojen in Maine / USA. Gefangen werden die Hummer mit Ködern in Hummerfallen, die auch Hummerkörbe genannt werden. Ein Boot kann täglich mehrere hundert Körbe auslegen, und zwar in einer Tiefe von 3 bis 75 Metern. Sie werden an langen Leinen festgebunden, je Leine etwa 15 bis 20 Körbe, und hydraulisch eingezogen. Farbige und gemusterte Bojen zeigen an, wo sich die Fallen befinden, und welche Körbe zu wem gehören.
In Maine wird der Hummerfang ausschließlich mit Hummerkörben betrieben – Tauchen und Schleppnetze sind nicht erlaubt. Durch die Maschen der Hummerkörbe müssen kleine Hummer entkommen können. Das Material muss biologisch abbaubar sein für den Fall, dass eine Falle verloren geht. |
