Summary
[edit]DescriptionLiverpool Street Station - geograph.org.uk - 599218.jpg |
English: Liverpool Street Station. The business end of the station before it was rebuilt between 1985 and 1992. 37052 arrives with a mixed train of oil tanks and parcels vehicles. The oil is to replenish the supplies of the station's locomotive stabling point - just visible on the right behind the platform trolleys. The characters on the front of the locomotive, 5F22, indicate the type of train and the timetable it is working to. These fell into disuse with the introduction of computerisation in signal boxes and the headcode boxes were blanked off, initially with black plastic and a white dot - see 599142 for an image of the same loco in this condition. The brick structure behind the coaches on the left is Broad Street Station - which would close and be completely demolished in 1986 to make way for the Broadgate development. |
