[edit]DescriptionLive fire exercise with US, Serbian and Bulgarian troops DVIDS421014.jpg |
English: After a successful string of fire with a .50 caliber machine gun mounted on U.S. Marine humvees, Cpl. Benjamin Balderez, a native of Hereford, Texas, and rifleman with Black Sea Rotational Force 11, congratulates a Bulgarian soldier for his rapid improvement and instinctive shooting during a live-fire exercise with U.S. Marines and Serbian soldiers. The Black Sea Marines conducted training with partner nations in counterinsurgency and peacekeeping operations with the Bulgarian 38th Infantry Battalion, 2nd Light Infantry Brigade, and the Serbian 21st Mechanized Infantry Battalion, 2nd Brigade, to build the military capacity of partner and allied nations in the Black Sea, Balkan and Caucasus regions. The Bulgarian unit is scheduled to deploy to the Kabul province of Afghanistan this summer while the Serbian unit is scheduled to deploy to Cyprus in the near future. The training was conducted in Novo Selo's 55-square-mile training area that features designated ranges for machine guns, RPGs and combat marksmanship, vast land for patrolling and convoy operations, and dedicated urban combat environments for training in military operations in urban terrain and cordon, search, and seizure.
