Estos líquenes crecen expresamente en los sitios de paso de personas y animales, pues al pisarlos se trocean y cada trozo es un nuevo liquen que sigue creciendo. Es su forma de reproducirse vegetativamente por fragmentación". Se entiende la necesidad de este líquen de ser pisoteado, porque la reproducción vegetativa por fragmentación del talo es mucho más fácil y segura que la azarosa reproducción por esporas en un hábitat donde las lluvias son muy escasas y predomina la aridez extrema durante la mayor parte del año. |
