Description
  • Italiano: In primo piano, il secondo leone collocato a destra dell'ingresso monumenale dell'Arsenale di Venezia. Si tratta di una scultura greca arcaica del Vi secolo a.C., proveniente da Delo; la testa è un'aggiunta della fine del XVII secolo. Fu portato a Venezia come preda di guerra da Francesco Morosini, che conquistò Atene e il Peloponneso nel 1694.
  • English: The second lion standing at the right side of the monumental entrance of the Arsenale in Venice. It is an Ancient Greek sculpture dating back to the 6th century BC, from Delos (the head was added in late 17th century). It was brought to Venice by Francesco Morosini, who conquered Athens and the Peloponnesus in 1694.
