Deutsch: Am 20. September 1875, zwei Tage nach der Einweihung der linksufrigen Zürichseebahn, zeigten sich beim Dampfschiffsteg Horgen Risse. Noch am gleichen Tag versanken drei Gleise der Station mit 6500 Quadratmetern aufgeschüttetem Land im Zürichsee. In den folgenden zwei Tagen verschluckten die Fluten das Toilettenhäuschen. Güterschuppen und Bahnhof hatten sich einen Meter abgesenkt, so dass sie abgebrochen werden mussten. Das Unheil hatte sich schon im Februar abgezeichnet. Eine für das Bahnprojekt erstellte Ufermauer war auf einer Länge von 135 Metern eingestürzt und im See versunken. Monatelang musste das Dampfschiff die Lücke in der neuen Bahnstrecke schliessen. Auf einen neuen Bahnhof am heutigen Standort warteten die Horgner 13 Jahre lang. |
