Description
English: A Lincoln Statue for New Salem, IL. This heroic bronze statue represents Abraham Lincoln in the small village while still employed splitting rails for fences, he started studying Law. This is represented by lowering the ax and holding a law book for study. A scholar, Thomas Starr, appropriately called the time “At The Crossroads of Decision.” The monument was erected and dedicated at the New Salem State Park at the site of the village in Illinois, 1954.
