Lincoln Goodale (2/25/1782-4/30/1868) was born in Massachusetts, the son of Nathan Goodale. He came with his widowed mother to Franklinton around 1805. He was the area's first doctor. Lincoln moved across the Scioto River from Franklinton to Columbus in 1814. In addition to his medical practice, he founded a dry goods store, was a City Councilman from 1821 to 1823, and the City Recorder from 1828 to 1830. He donated land to the City of Columbus on November 11, 1851 which became the city's first recreation area, Goodale Park. |
