English: An incomplete, cast, copper-alloy Roman nail-cleaner strap-end with crescent-shaped lugs and incised decoration at the shaft

Below the rounded attachment loop which  is ornamented with small notches along the perimeter on the front face, the handle  has a collar framed by transverse grooves,  framed by transverse grooves, and consisting of a pair saltires, comprising rectilinear, transverse rounded raised forms with a central transverse groove. The reverse is flat and undecorated.

The blade is undecorated with gently sloping shoulders and a leaf-shaped body that slightly tapers to a broken end.

Surviving length: 40.85 mm; Width: 11.41 mm; Thickness: 1.76 mm (broad body) and 6.75 mm (loop); Weight: 4.18g

Broad parallels recorded on the PAS database include SF-130B20 and BERK-735556, albeit these examples carry enamelling or recesses for enamel.
