| Description |
English: Limestone pavement It is tempting to believe that some field walls are designed to exclude animals, rather than enclose them! There is nothing here to graze, and the adjacent lane runs parallel to the long axis of these grykes in the limestone pavement, a path of least resistance in fact. It is easy to appreciate how these blocks can be levered up easily and used in the walls. An unusual feature is that the long axis of the stones is often vertical in the wall, which is a lazy and weak way of gaining height. |
