Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lightcliffe Church School, Wakefield Road, Hipperholme. This was built as a National School in 1866, although it was not opened until 1869. Until 1906 there were two separate schools for boys and girls, and also houses for the headmaster and headmistress. Children were taught here until they were 14, but in 1944 the leaving age became 11. The school has been extended in the late 20C to bring it up to modern standards.
