DescriptionLifford Lane Guillotine Stop Lock east.jpg |
English: The east gate of the guillotine stop lock at Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, Birmingham, England. This lock was constructed to prevent water loss between the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and the Worcester and Birmingham Canal which meet 200 metres to the west of the lock. These gates, dating from 1814, and replacing a more conventional four gate, wide stop lock, are now permanently open as both canals are operated by British Waterways.
The lock is Grade II* listed and also a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Photographed by me 10 June 2007. Oosoom See also Image:Lifford Lane Guillotine Stop Lock west.jpg |
