Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lichchavikalin Dhungedhara, Bajrayogini, Sankhu.

Dhungedhara of a very artistic style is located behind the Bajrayogini temple and in the middle of the palace in Shankharapur municipality ward no. 8 of Kathmandu district. The Lichchavi period stone carvings including Garuda must also belong to the Lichhavi period. In Dhungedhara, there are stone sculptures depicting a lion eating a Capricorn, then the Capricorn swallowing an aquatic creature like a mouse. Similarly, the statue of Bhagirath blowing conch, which is believed to be from the 4th century, is also located in this Dhungedhara.

Currently, there is only one Dhungedhara in this Dhungedhara, looking at the structure of the Dhungedhara here, there should probably be three Dhungedhara here. The bricks used in this Dhungedhara are also considered to be of Lichchavi period. Currently, the reconstruction of the palace is going on here, so this stone wall is in a state of decay. According to the workers who are working on the reconstruction of the palace, they have said that this Dhungedhara will also be renovated.
