Le globe a été construit en 1994, c'est une salle de réunion à 40 m au-dessus du sol, reliée au centre des congrès par deux ascenseurs. Les usines Fiat à Turin (le Lingotto) ont été construites dans les années 1910-1920 par l'architecte Giacomo Matté-Trucco (1869-1934), elles comprenaient une célèbre piste d'essai sur le toit de plus d'un kilomètre de long. Deux rampes au sud et au nord de l'usine permettaient aux voitures d'accéder à la piste. La transformation de l'ensemble des bâtiments en centre commercial, bureaux, hôtels et centre des congrès a été confiée à l'architecte Renzo Piano. Il a également construit un héliport et un bâtiment (l'Ecrin) destiné à accueillir la pinacothèque de la famille Agnelli. |
