Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Drawing of a Leyden jar, an antique piece of physics apparatus for storing electric charge, from an 1889 physics textbook. It consists of a glass jar with metal foil glued to the inside and outside. A metal electrode projects down through the wood stopper into the jar, with a metal chain or spring attached to the end which made contact with the inner foil so it can be charged with electricity.
