Summary
[edit]DescriptionLewes Arms - geograph.org.uk - 417071.jpg |
English: Lewes Arms A 220 year old pub that has recently hit the news due to its owners, Greene King, removing a guest beer, Harveys bitter brewed locally in the town, and suffering a boycott which reduced takings by 90%. After 4 months the brewery giant finally caved in on 20 April 2007 and reintroduced the beer to the pub, a former brewery tap. The pub itself is quite an idiosyncratic local being host to a pub amateur dramtics society, the host of the annual pea-throwing championship, spaniel racing (open to all non-spaniels) and dwyle flunking an impenetrable game from the last century.
This view is taken from Fisher Street looking down the alley towards the pub. The greenery behind marks the site of Brack Mount. |
