Wilhelm Will, a German chemist and former mentor of Georg Bredig (1868-1944), thanks him for sending his habilitation thesis "Anorganische Fermente" (Inorganic Ferments). In many Germanophone countries, a habilitation is a post-doctoral degree intended to demonstrate a scholar's capacity for research in his or her field and is usually required to attain the rank of professor.
