Title
Letter from Newman (Bud) Ebersole to ARMCO Employees, 1919 January 27
Description
This letter was written from Newman "Bud" Ebersole, in Lunéville, France, to the ARMCO employees. Ebersole is glad to have returned to Section 646 after being in the hospital for two weeks with a spell or attack; the French doctor who treated him advised Ebersole to rest, be careful of food, and get reevaluated by Major Whitney at headquarters. Although they have no work at the moment, they are attached to a Division training for work in Poland. The Section has had no communication with the world - including mail and official papers - for over two weeks. Everyone is completely broke, as they've given all of their money to buy daily food; ration checks are sent twice a month for all supplies, but nothing has come in quite a while. Rumors are still circulating that they will be sent home. The big news is that Section 646 has now received yet another citation - their third palm - for work done beginning September 26 in the south of Vouziers. Ebersole mentions sending a copy of the citation with this letter. This letter is a mimeographed reproduction. The original content of the letter was typed out and copied by ARMCO. Copies of this and other correspondence were then generally distributed to friends and family members of the ARMCO Ambulance Corps, and to ARMCO employees.
