Description
English: "...the last quarter my pay amounted to $20 (with my grog money) which I have got in hard gold. I intend to keep this until I get to N. York when I will sell it for a premium.

July 1st Boarded the English Bark "Juliette" from Maseo for Liverpool. From her we learned that the Privateers are on the coast near Rio Janiero. 2nd Last night at one o'clock the ship was hailed by "Old Neptune" who inquired what vessel this was and if there were any of his children on board that he had not seen. When he was told that there were "lots of them" he said that he would be on board at one o'clock the next day. Neptune was none other than one of the sailors who had sliped over the bow into the chains. While he was hailing another had lapped a barrel with a light attached to it over the stirn then the men were told to go aft and they would see Neptune in his [illegible] This foremoon preparations were made for receiving Neptune. A large sail fixed so as..."
