My Dear Parents

Hearing there would be some letters going away this P.M. I thought would not be amiss to write home.

I wrote by way of New Orleans on the 12th and presume you have already received it. Since then nothing of a very interesting nature has occurred save our having been visited by cold and stormy weather. This day, a week ago, was by far the coldest day we have experienced since being in the Gulf of Mexico, and one of the most unpleasant. The wind commenced blowing a gale the night before and in the morning a heavy sea was breaking over us. Berth Deck was afloat and notwithstanding it being so very unpleasant, the boys were all..."
