| Description |
English: "...to go on her as they can't spare men as there is but few marines fit for duty anywhere as they can't get many. I had three day's liberty since I have been here our duty here is day on day off. We get liberty from 10 o'clock P.M. to 6 o'clock next morning. If I had not spent all my change I could have got 48 hours furlough but I had a great many things to get wich run away with my money. It depends on what kind of vessell we get on [illegible] Leave half pay. I just got word to pack up to go away so do not write till you get another letter. I expect it is for the Clifton. My love to all the family. So no more at present.
