Summary
[edit]DescriptionLetter, 17 April 1941, page 3 of 4.jpg |
English: "An hours indiscretion at Caimanera is safer than an all night orgy in Guantanamo.
I went to the sick bay last night to try to obtain some relief from the “Athletes Foot” that has been bothering me for the past month. While I was there I glanced at the graph they keep for recording the venereal rate since coming down here. The line for April has gone entirely off the top of the chart! Thank God I’m still clean and I intend staying so. The paper you send me is indeed a God send. They furnish us with a daily radio bulletin, but when I compare the two the news they give us is, to my opinion, well seasoned with propaganda. Perhaps I shouldn’t say propaganda," From the Edward L. Parke Collection (COLL/5627) at the Archives Branch, Marine Corps History Division OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
