Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Count Jean Armand de Lestocq (1692-1767).
Date 1740s
date QS:P,+1740-00-00T00:00:00Z/8
Source
  • Engraved copy of an 18th century portrait, as published in the Трехсотлетие Дома Романовых 1613-1913 (Three Hundred Years of the House of Romanov 1613-1913), first edition: 1913, p. 203.
  • Web source: http://www.museum.ru/museum/1812/library/sitin/book1_02.html (attributed to w:Dmitry Rovinsky's catalogue, but see below) larger resolution: http://www.rulex.ru/rpg/portraits/23/23278.htm
  • Attribution: this is one of many different prints based on an oil portrait by w:Georg Christoph Grooth. The original was painted in the 1740s, before Lestocq was banished in 1748. None of the prints listed in Rovinsky catalogue ([1]) quite matches this work (there's only one rectangular print listed, and it's a very small one). It may have been engraved specifically for the 1913 book.
