Description
Deutsch: Kurz nach der sogenannten "Reichskristallnacht" erging an die Magistratsabteilung 25 das Schreiben: "Aufgrund einer Anregung der Fachberater des Kulturamtes soll im Sinne der Weisungen des Herrn Vizebürgermeisters Ing. Hanns Blaschke das Lessing-Denkmal, eine Arbeit des Bildhauers Charoux (Jude) entfernt werden...." (24.11.1938).

Das erste Lessing-Denkmal von Siegfried Charoux wurde abgetragen und 1942/43 "...zur Verstärkung der Rüstungsreserven" eingeschmolzen. Siegfried Charoux war es nicht mehr vergönnt, die Enthüllung seines "Zweiten Lessing" zu erleben. Charoux starb am 26.4.1967. Das Denkmal wurde in Gegenwart seiner Gattin Margarethe, am 28.5.1968 am Morzinplatz, in der Grünanlage vor der Ruprechtskirche enthüllt. Am 31.10.1981 wurde das Denkmal am Judenplatz, am ursprünglichen Platz des ersten Lessing-Denkmales, aufgestellt.
