Première salle de la partie historique de l'exposition permanente du musée international de la parfumerie à Grasse

Les Égyptiens sont reconnus pour avoir très tôt maîtrisé les compositions odorantes utilisées pour des fumigations, onguents, huiles parfumées et embaumements. Démunie de matières premières, l’Égypte importe ses produits de l’étranger, comme le mastic du Proche-Orient ou le genévrier du Sahara. Les usages du parfum vont se développer jusqu’à entrer dans la vie quotidienne pour guérir, pour séduire et pour parfumer l’habitat... Extrait du dossier de presse du musée.

Créé en 1989, Le Musée International de la Parfumerie, musée unique au monde, s’inscrit sur le territoire emblématique de la ville de Grasse, berceau de la parfumerie de luxe dont la France a été l’initiatrice. Extrai du site du Musée International de la Parfumerie à Grasse (France)
