Les ghats des crémations au bord de la rivière sacrée Bagmati Photographiées depuis la rive opposée, les rives de la Bagmati aménagées pour les crémations. Le site du temple dédié à Pashupatinath, une des formes de Shiva (le Maître du troupeau) est un lieu sacré pour les hindous. Ce temple en forme de pagode a été construit en 1696 au bord de la rivière Bagmati qui se jette dans le Gange, il est réservé aux seuls hindous. Les cendres des défunts comme les fleurs sont jetées dans la rivière comme le veut le rite ce qui conduit des personnes à rechercher les restes d'objets en métal au pied de la plateforme où s'est déroulée la crémation. Ces pratiques ne choquent personne au Népal. A la saison sèche, le niveau de la rivière étant très bas, sa pollution extrême n'en est que plus visible.
