Pose de la voie. — Chemin de Tombo. très sévères ont été prises par ladministration pour pro-téger les plantes existantes et empêcher les noirs, peu soigneux, defaire dans les troncs des incisions trop profondes et trop répétéesqui font mourir la plante sans profit. Parmi les autres plantes ou arbres cultivés au Sénégal, il fautciter : Le bentamaré, dont le grain constitue un succédané du café. Le ricin. Lhibiscus, dont les fibres sont utilisées pour la fabrication descordes. Le sésame, assez rare au Sénégal. Le touloukoun. dont le fruit fournit une graisse amère. Le caicedra, qui donne un bois excellent. Le ven, sorte de bois dur de couleur rose. Le ronier, variété de palmier dont le tronc est utilisé pour lesfondations, cest un bois très dur, imputrescible. Le baobab qui fournit une écorce utilisée pour la fabrication descordages, etc. 140

.DIVOIRE Carte de la Guinée française, 141 Guinée. La Guinée française possède à peu près la même organisationpolitique et administrative que le Sénégal. Le lieutenant-gouverneur, chef de la colonie, est assisté dunsecrétaire général et dun conseil dadministration dont font partiedeux fonctionnaires et trois commerçants notables. La Guinée française est divisée en un certain nombre de cir-conscriptions appelées cercles, placés sous la juridiction dadminis-trateurs civils ou dofficiers détachés hors cadres. La situation de ces cercles est. dune façon générale, la mêmeque celle des pays de protectorat du Sénégal, et leur administrationest assurée dans des conditions analogues.
