Les Ondines / les Wilis Oeuvre d'Auguste Ernest Gendron (Paris, 1817-1881) 1846 Huile sur toile Bordeaux, musée des beaux-arts Dans les mythes germaniques ou slaves, les Ondines (appelées aussi Wilis ou Roussalki) sont les fantômes de jeunes filles mortes avant leur mariage. Elles sont condamnées à errer, elles dansent au clair de lune et peuvent entrainer dans la mort les jeunes hommes qui les approchent. Le ballet romantique Giselle les met en scène (musique Adolphe Adam, livret de Théophile Gautier et J.-H. Vernoy de St-Georges, chorégraphie originale de Jules Perrot et Jean Coralli, ballet créé en 1841, repris par Marius Petipa en 1887 au théâtre Mariinski) . Le mythe associe la femme, la lune et la mort.
