Description
English: The Castello di Lerici, Liguria, Italy, July 1976. The Castle was originally built by Pisa in 1152-1241, and enlarged by Genoa in 1256 and 1555. It was fought over by the Pisans, Genovese, Florentines, Guelphs and Ghibellines, Ottomans and French. It was for many years a prison, then a Youth Hostel (when this picture was taken) and now is a museum.
