This fossil bivalve is consistent with Leptodesma, which has been previously reported from the Traverse Group of Michigan (e.g., Pojeta et al., 1986). Classification: Animalia, Mollusca, Bivalvia, Pteriomorphia, Ostreida, Pterineidae Stratigraphy: Gravel Point Formation, ~mid-Traverse Group, Senecan Series, upper Middle Devonian Locality: lakeshore exposure (= bedrock flats a little above lake level) southwest of South Point, due west of roadblock along gravel road heading north from Bells Bay Beach parking area, due west of the town of Charlevoix, northwestern Charlevoix County, shores of northeastern Lake Michigan, northwestern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, USA (vicinity of 45° 18' 42.66" North latitude, 85° 18' 30.27" West longitude) Reference cited: Pojeta et al.
