English: Leon Thorn (born as Leon Leib Yehuda Thorn on 22 July 1907 in Schodnica near Drohobycz in Galicia, Cisleithania, Austria-Hungary, deceased as Leon Thorne on 23 February 1978 in Brooklyn, New York State, USA), portrayed on the occasion of the publication of his memoirs Out of the Ashes, which got released in 1961. The preface was written by Nobel Prize Laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer.
