Deutsch: Attisch-weißgrundige Lekythos des Achilleus-Malers (Zuschreibung durch Irma Wehgartner). Grabszene: im Zentrum hohe, schlanke, weiße Grabstele auf zweistufigem Unterbau; links ein mit Chiton und Himation bekleideter alter Mann mit weißem Haar und Bart sowie Krückstock in der linken Hand und zur Klage erhobenen rechten Hand; rechts ein behelmter Mann mit Lanze in der rechten Hand sowie Schild am linken Arm, gegürtet mit einem Schwert in idealisierter Nacktheit mit dem Blick in Richtung des alten Mannes; Deutung: der alte Mann besucht das Grab seines gefallenen Sohnes, der in heroisierender Form am Grab erscheint. Um 450 v. Chr.; Höhe 46cm. 1987 aus schweizer Privatbesitz für die Antikensammlung Berlin (Altes Museum) erworben; Inventarnummer 1983.1.
English: Attic white-ground Lekythos by the Achilles Painter (attributed by Irma Wehgartner). Grave szene: high, thin, white grave stelai, on the left site an old man with white hair and beard, the right hand lifted in mourning position, in the left hand a crutch; to the right site a nude warrior (ideal nudity) with helmet, girded sword, a lance in the right hand and a shiled on the left arm; Interpretation: an old father is visiting the grave of his fallen son whose representation as also at the grave. About 450 BC.; 46cm high. Purchased in 1987 from swiss private property for the Antikensammlung Berlin (Altes Museum); Ascnr: 1983.1. |
