Leitspruch am Priestertor in Saaz (Žatec): Žača, altas inter Czechi felicior urbes Tot sine clade tua, hostiles experta tumultus Omni invicta tuis sta florida turribus aevo, Et stabis florens, dum Jovae immobile Verbum Grata tuas intra fidenti pectore Portas Pro Munimento vitaeque urbisque terebis. Autor der lateinischen Inschrift an der Stadtseite des Priestertors in Saaz ist Georg Carolides von Karlsberg, der Hofdichter von Rudolf II. Deutsche Übersetzung von Anton August Naaf: “Saaz, du beglücktere unter den Schwesterstädten in Böhmen, Du, die so viel du erfuhrst ohne Fall im Feindesgetümmel, Unbezwungen allzeit mög´st du blühend steh´n mit den Türmen Und so lange in Blüt´ wirst du stehen, als Gottes Wort Du Dankvoll in Deinen Mauern mit gläubigem Herzen Dir hegst Und als Bollwerk Dir wahrst für Dich selbst,als Grundstein für´s Leben.” |
