DescriptionLegion of Merit Chief Commder - reverse.jpg |
Reverse side. Looks WWII era. The Chief Commander version of the LoM is given to the heads of foreign nations or the commanders of foreign armed forces for their meritorious service on behalf of the US. This Legion of Merit Chief Commander is a WWII era piece, made sometime between the latter part of WWII and prior to the Korean War, which makes it a very early example.. The enamel work and the hand-engraved--United States of America--on the back (see previous image) are what you would find on a piece from WWII. Also, the quality and detail are much better than on the modern pieces. |
