Description
English: Leeds Shaft, Great Work Mine. This engine house is the only remnant of the buildings of the Great Work Mine on the Godolphin Estate. The engine house, built 1829, was named after the Duke of Leeds, who lived nearby at Godolphin House. The shaft, in the foreground covered by metal gratings, is 1000 feet deep.
