Summary

[edit]
Description Leeds Central Library was designed by George Corson. It was completed together with Leeds School Board Building originally as Leeds Municipal Buildings in 1884. The exterior carving is by Benjamin Payler and Matthew Taylor. Corson said that he designed the buildings not to be in competition with Cuthbert Brodrick's Town Hall next door, but to complement it.
