Description |
This paper collage was probably used by PH Gosse as a teaching aid. It shows the mouthparts of a leech - the upper image also includes two pins used to reveal the leech’s throat. These two images can be found as line drawings in Gosse’s book ‘Evenings at the Microscope’ on pages 269 and 270 where Gosse asks the reader to ‘Observe how beautifully this apparatus subserves the purpose for which it is intended’. |
