When much of its capsule or sac is not consti-tuted of any of the proper coats of the vessel, but of a cystproduced from the effused lymph surrounding an orifice throughwhich it receives its deposit of* blood, it is called ealse aneurism.When there is no such covering, the artery only continuing topour out its blood into the cellular tissue, it constitutes diffusedanuerism. When the effusion runs alono- between the coats of ANEURISM—NATURE AND TREATMENT. 579 the artery itself, it is sometimes distinguished as a dissectinganeurism. The exciting cause may be local injury, violentbodily exertion or strong mental emotion. The patient oftenrefers to a strain when something was felt to give way.There is generally a predisposing cause in some form of cachexia,such as syphilis or mercurialism. Fig. 25.
