English: Leat above Statts Bridge The Birch Tor and Vitifer Mine Leat just northwest of the B3212 crossing. The leat was taken off the East Dart in SX6281 and ran for 7 miles to supply the waterwheels at the Birch Tor, Vitifer and Golden Dagger tin mines near the Warren House. http://www.pastscape.org.uk/hob.aspx?hob_id=763393&sort=2&rational=m&recordsperpage=10&maplat=50.62485271&maplong=-3.94911240&mapisa=1000&mapist=os&mapilo=-3.9491&mapila=50.6249&mapiloe=w&mapilan=n&mapios=SX621824&mapigrn=82450&mapigre=262150&mapipc= On its long and winding course, the leat runs through the forest in the background which surrounds Fernworthy Reservoir. The left-hand patch of plantation is on White Ridge in SX6582, the right-hand stretch on Assycombe Hill SX6681. |
