Title |
leaf-shaped arrowhead (ventral) |
||
Description |
English: Flint leaf-shaped arrowhead, kite-shaped in plan, with its point having broken off in antiquity. The arrowhead is bimarginally worked around its entire edge and on both the ventral and dorsal faces.
The flint is a mottled light to dark grey colour, probably made from a local beach pebble. The length to breadth ratio is about 2:1. Bond (2004) illustrates a similar leaf-shaped arrowhead on page 123, Fig.5.106, Green Type 1C (c), and a leaf-shaped arrowhead on page 133, Fig.5.119, No.F26, which are both dated to the Earlier Neolithic. Keene (1999) illustrates a similar leaf-shaped arrowhead from Carn Brea on page 14, Fig.53, No.L42, and another from Goonhilly Downs, the Lizard, on page 23, Fig.17, No.28, which are both dated from the Earlier Neolithic. |
