Photograph of 14 leading businessmen, John G. Francis (in foreground) and others, as clowns in the La Fiesta de Los Angeles Fool's night, ca.1900-1911. On parade at the corner of 5th Street and Hill Street looking east from Hill Street. Their costumes all consist of a white(?) conical cap with 3 dark buttons, a clown-face mask, and white(?) capacious pajama-like overalls with 3 dark buttons and frills at the waist, collar, shoulders, wrists, and ankles. A cage, in which a fool sits, is directly behind them. A crowd of men dressed in suits with hats surround them. Buildings (commercial and residential) are visible on both sides of the street.
