Title
Lead spindle whorl - bun-shaped
Description
English: Spindle whorl; cast lead bun-shaped spindle whorl. The whorl is circular, with a domed cross section and a slightly concave base. It is pierced with a sub-circular hole which is large at the base and smaller at the top. The metal has a grey-white patina over its surface.

Spindle whorls are notoriously difficult to date out of context since very similar designs were in use from the Roman period through to the early Post Medieval era.
