Title
Lead spindle whorl - biconical
Description
English: Spindle whorl; cast lead bi-concial spindle whorl. The whorl is circular with a prominent rib around the edge. It is decorated on both sides with radiating lines and a ring cutting the lines. The whorl is pierced through the centre with a cylindrical, sub-circular hole. The metal has a patchy grey-white patina over its surface.

Spindle whorls are notoriously difficult to date out of context since very similar designs were in use from the Roman period through to the early Post Medieval era.
