Title
lead alloy musket ball ch2007-27
Description
English: A lead alloy musket ball. The shot is spherical and has a diameter of 18.8mm. The ball has a smooth surface. There is a large casting flash on one face. The colour of the ball is creamy grey. The ball has no corrosion. It is post medieval and probably dates from 1644. Musket balls are discussed in Courtney’s “Small Arms Accessories of the Mid-Seventeenth Century” (1988) and on page 202 of “Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition” by Geoff Egan (2005).
