Title
Lead Post Medieval toy
Description
English: Cast lead 17th century horse and rider 2D figurine.

It is decorated on the front in relief but is flat on the reverse with no decoration. It is 40.42mm high.

The figure sits on a horse with his head facing forwards. He has one arm outstretched towards the horse's neck and the other on his hip forming a triangle. His head has broken off at the neck but the finder recovered the head. He is wearing a hat and has shoulder length hair. He has four large circular buttons down his coat and some decoration on his ruff and the edges of his coat.

The horse is facing left, its legs have broken just below its body and the riders leg is also broken. The mane is picked out by vertical lines. There is a decorative cross on the neck which has bulbous terminals. The reins come from the shoulder to the mouth leaving an openwork section. On the body of the horse is a double horizontal line connected by vertical lines which represents part of a decorative harness. Below this are further vertical lines althoguh the exact pattern is not clear. On the rump is another cross.

Geoff Egan comments that this is an unusual variety as it does not appear to be a soldier or a hunter as no weapon is shown.
