English: Leachate The photograph shows a drainage channel by the side of Locko Road, Lower Pilsley.
The colour of the water in the channel may owe a little to the reflection from a winters sky but, in the main, is caused by leachate from what was once the spoil heap from the local colliery. Although not particularly evident in the photograph, foam also collects on the surface where it is trapped by twigs or other obstructions. This watercourse is a tributary of Locko Brook, which starts in the fields to the south of Locko Lane and eventually joins the River Rother River_Rother,_South_Yorkshire near Coney Green http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=53.1709&lon=-1.3926&scale=25000&icon=x .
